A parade does not stop for a photographer, which rules out most of what makes an event shot easy. The coverage is built on position instead: find the stretch where the light from the buildings falls across the route, and let the parade come to it.
Shot at dusk, when the sky still holds colour and the street lighting has come up, so the frames have both.
