Brand development

Who the brand is, how it looks and how it sounds — and the first set of assets that make it look like one.

Most brands are not short of ideas. They are short of agreement. Three people describe the business three different ways, the logo is from one year and the colour from another, and the feed looks like four companies sharing an account.

This is the work that settles it. We get the positioning down to something a stranger can repeat, build the look and the voice around it, and then shoot the first set of assets — so the brand arrives already looking like itself instead of waiting for a launch to find out.

Flight Trajectory

How a brand development project runs, start to orbit.

  1. Flight plan

    Where you actually stand

Who you are for, what you are against, and what people already say about you when you are not in the room. One page, agreed before anything gets designed.

  2. Takeoff

    The line

The idea in one sentence — the one everybody on your team says the same way. Everything after this is that sentence, shown.

  3. Altitude

    The look and the voice

Type, colour, framing and tone. Enough rules to stay consistent, few enough that your team will actually follow them.

  4. Cruise

    The first set

A shoot that builds the brand its own library instead of renting someone else's stock — the images and video the identity was designed around.

  5. Orbit

    The kit

One folder holding the logo files, the palette, the type, the voice notes and that first set, so the next person you hire does not start from nothing.

What you get

  • A one-page positioning you can hand to anyone
  • Logo files in every format you will be asked for
  • A palette, type and framing guide short enough to be used
  • Voice notes — how the brand writes, with examples
  • A first shoot, photo and video, built to the identity
  • The whole brand kit, yours to keep

What we need from you

  • An hour or two with whoever actually decides
  • Whatever exists already, however rough — old logos included
  • Three brands you admire, and what you admire about them
